Welcome to the No Backboard Basketball League

Redefining the Game of Basketball

Basketball was invented in 1891 with two peach baskets, a soccer ball, and 13 rules—no backboard needed. The backboard, introduced in 1904 as standard equipment, was originally meant to control the crowd, not assist the players. Over 120 years later, the backboard has become a standard part of the game, but it limits 400 sqft on the basketball court from a direct shot on the basket.  Constraining the game's true potential and the athlete's development of true skill and precision.

Why the NBBL?

The No Backboard Basketball League (NBBL) is a revolutionary platform designed to challenge the traditional norms of basketball and reimagine youth development in the United States. By eliminating the backboard, reducing the size of the hoop by 2-inches, changing the design of the playing court, and introducing unique rules, the NBBL emphasizes pure skill, speed, and stamina on the court producing a more skilled higher IQ basketball athlete.
